Gender Reveal + 20 Weeks Pregnant Bumpdate

BOY OR GIRL?

On Wednesday, October 27th, Calvin and I headed to the medical imagining facility my OB/GYN sends all her patients to for their in-depth anatomy scan. Not only would we be finding out the gender of baby #2 during this visit, but also making sure baby was growing well and no cleft lip/cleft palate was detected. As you all know, Josiah was born with a cleft lip and palate. The cleft lip was first detected at his anatomy scan.

We knew the appointment would be long and thorough. First she checked and measured my cervix, then she continued to examine everything else. In sum, baby looked great in there! No abnormalities detected and as for the gender….

well…

you’ll just have to catch a glimpse of our experience in finding out by viewing the video below…

WE ARE THRILLED!!!! Josiah is getting little brother! Paise God!

As you can imagine, our emotions were all over the place while at this appointment. I mean, for nearly 40 minutes, we legitimately thought we were having a girl and were excited then too, of course! But then things quickly changed when baby moved around a bit and things became CLEAR! Haha! One of my best friends mom sent me over a text that explained it perfectly, “…well, at least you had a girl for 30 minutes!” LOL!

HALFWAY THERE (20 WEEKS) PREGNANCY BUMPDATE:

(I plan to share bumpdates (updates on my pregnancy) every 4 weeks from here on out! To kick these bumpdates off, I’m excited to first answer questions I’ve been getting about the pregnancy and baby. Just like when I was pregnant with Josiah, expect these bumpdates here on the blog every month!)

How are you feeling? At first, I felt all the symptoms and was VERY sick and tired. The entire first trimester and even part of the second I was constantly nauseous and throwing up, worse than with Josiah! It wasn’t until a few weeks ago that I started feeling much better. I now have a lot more energy than before and in a nut shell - I’m feeling great!

How big is the baby? Baby is now measuring at ONE POUND! He’s about the length of a large banana/carrot.

How much weight have you gained? I’ve gained about 13 pounds! Start weight was 160 and now I weigh 173! Being so sick at first, the weight gain was slow. But I’m so happy to now have a baby bump poking out and the time has finally come to part with all my favorite jeans in exchange for maternity options.

Do you all have a name yet? We do!!! However, we are waiting to share with family and friends first then with everyone else. Stay tuned!

Favorite part of pregnancy so far? Feeling better! HA! And styling the bump again has been very fun for me! I will also say that knowing the gender this time around has also been fun and a new concept for us!

OTHER BUMPDATE INSIGHTS:

Current Movement: I first felt baby brother kick at about 15/16 weeks. So a bit sooner than with Josiah. Just last night I notice the kicks are getting stronger and I’m hoping soon Calvin and Josiah will be able to feel, too!

Current Food cravings: I’ve been craving all the cold and sweet things again! However, when I could hardly keep food down, surprisingly, hot and creamy mac and cheese was also a constant craving. Açaí bowls, popsicles, and frozen fruit out of the bag were also a big help during that time and still cravings of mine even now.

Current Symptoms: If you follow me on instagram you know I’ve struggled with pregnancy congestion and bloody noses. All new to me this pregnancy. Luckily this week hasn’t been as bad. But on days that it is, the congestion tends to make me gag (sorry for the TMI) and then that sometimes leads to nausea and vomiting. My belly button has also been feel a lot of pressure lately as my belly keeps growing. This bump is getting more and more firm.

Favorite pregnancy must haves: Can I just say, (1) pregnancy overalls are great! Never did I think I’d purchase some but man, are they comfortable! I look forward to styling them more and the temperature drops. I’ve also been loving my (2) Athleta leggings. They aren’t maternity but the support is great. I may just size up on these as I keep growing because they are a staple for sure. Tights and oversized sweaters for fall/winter? I think so!
